This girl right here. Well, she and her family hold a very special place in my heart. I was there to photograph Jim asking her to marry him, I also shot their engagement photos, their wedding, their maternity session, and now the birth of their precious Cora. Alex's dad is also our pediatrician, and in my early days of motherhood helped me navigate some scary time with my Finley. He's also been with us through countless cold and sick seasons with our other child that has zero immunity to anything.

Alex also helped babysit my kiddos a couple of years ago, she was one of the handful of people who would come to my rescue to watch my babies, when I would get calls from mom's in labor. Watching her, and getting to know her, I knew motherhood would find her well when the time came. And I was right. She was made for this. She owned her labor, she's thriving in motherhood, and I couldn't be more proud of her.

And Jim, well, Jim steals the show guys. Alex did all the hard work but he supported her so beautifully, and so selflessly. Oh and his reaction to momma pushing and baby being born.... I'm warning you now, go grab some tissues. It's the sweetest dad reaction to date!

Over the years of doing birth photography, and spending hours that have added up to days, that have added up to weeks, have blessed my soul with the time and opportunity to make friendships with some of the most amazing nurses. Sara Beth is one of them. If I was ever shooting a birth and she was the nurse, I knew my client was in good hands, and I knew I was as well. Two years ago, Sara Beth and I were pregnant at the same time. She was about 2 months ahead of me, and I remember watching her work on her feet those 12 hour shifts, 9 months pregnant and thinking what an amazing woman she was. There I was 2 months behind her, and barely keeping up! Not only is she a phenomenal nurse, but she's an even more amazing wife and mother. She and her family love the Lord and His light shines SO brightly in their lives. I'm thankful for this job for countless reasons, so adding another to the list, is becoming friends with this chick right here (and about 25 other flippin' fantastic women I could go on to list by name).

And dare I not forget to sing the praises of her precious husband, Matt! He was a champ! He was her ever steady, calm, and hands on partner. He loved and supported her emotionally. And as evident in the photos, he most definitely supported her physically, as he helped with lower back and hip compressions for hours. Melissa and Nicole, her midwives, and her nurse Patricia all doted on her, and quietly encouraged her through her journey to bring sweet Lanier earth-side. She was so beautifully supported through this labor, and the team that surrounded her, that covered her in love, was something to witness!

Fierce. Determined. Stunning. All describe Reagan during her labor and well into her journey of Motherhood. She was, and is surrounded by strong women cheering her on every step of the way. Some of my favorite shots from this birth are the moments shared between her and her sister and mother. Reagan I am so unbelievably proud of you. How you handled labor, the grueling days that immediately followed, and now watching you rock at Motherhood. Thank you for letting me be there to love on you, support you, and bear witness to you becoming a mom. Nellie is precious and she's so blessed to call you hers!

Each birth is different. It's like they come in all colors, in all moods. Marlena was a quiet warrior, the day was peaceful, the mood was light yet covered in anticipation. She and Johnny were surrounded by the love of family and friends. The time was passed laughing, telling stories, and making sure Marlena was comfortable and rested. And even with quiet labors, somehow, we all seem to come roaring into parenthood. Some with exhalations of pain and relief, and others like Marlena and Johnny with laughter and tears. What a joy it was standing by their side, and sharing the bedside with her mother as she watched her daughter become a mother. I mean, how is this even my job?! The blessings I am privy to are beyond measure. Thank you Marlena and Johnny. Hutch is perfection!
