What do I wear?
If you've booked a documentary session, you can literally wear whatever you want! Dad have a favorite hoodie? Kids never leave their pj's? Not only acceptable, but encouraged to be your most authentic self. As for Studio Sessions, I am a minimalist, but would cover suggestions regarding these sessions via a phone chat.
What If I Don't Think My House is Pretty?
Documentary photos aren't about an aesthetic, they are about your real life. This version of your home won't always look like this. Believe it or not, one day you will long to be able to look back at this season of life. To be able to remember all the details of right now.
Single? Older? Non-traditional Family?
Documentary is not just for the nuclear family. Everyone at every stage of life has a story to tell, a season of life to document. Girls nights, elderly couples, young couples, best friends, a solo session doing a hobby you love? All worthy of documentation.
Is Documentary the Same As Lifestyle?
In short. No. Lifestyle is meant to look natural and organic, but it is still planned and posed, outfits are organized, and the photographer directs you with where to stand/look. Documentary is none of these things. The only planning is figuring out all the activities we want to shoot in our time together.
