I love all of my birth clients, I do, but this girl I love like a sister. We talk nearly everyday. She knows parts of me that no one else does and loves me regardless. Outside of my family, she is my biggest cheerleader, butt kicker, and all around touchstone for advice whenever I call. I truly don't know who I would be, or where I would be if not for her friendship. So you can imagine the overflow of emotions watching your best friend become a mom. I've been blessed to be present at both of her deliveries, first with the birth of her twin boys, and now with precious Maeve. And oh how I adore her babies...

Eliza, Mike.... (and of course Melissa, and the nursing staff at St. Francis), you guys rocked this natural labor. I know they always say you don't get a medal for delivering without medication, but I nearly went out and bought Eliza one. If it weren't for sweet Maeve's epic first poo after delivery, she most definitely would've tipped the scales at 9+ pounds.

Grab some tissues, you've been warned. Between Eliza's grace and strength, Mike's unwavering support for his bride, sweet Honey's reaction when she found out it was a girl, and of course the twins meeting their new sister... well it's a waterworks folks.

Eliza and Mike, thank you for everything. Thank you for allowing me to share that space with you. Thank you for letting me love your kids. Thank you for your friendship. And Mike, thanks for letting me steal her occasionally for girls nights and gin and tonics.

Just when I don't think I can be surprised by the labor process, or women in general, this lady right here finds a way. She walked around 6cm dilated, with her bag of waters bulging for nearly a week. We all knew that as soon as her water broke, things were going to go FAST. And they did! She handled her quick, intense, and medication free birth with such grace and determination. And what a team she had supporting her along the way. Her husband never left her side, and her mother's hands helped guide her newest grandchild earth-side.

Miranda's mother is a past labor and delivery nurse, so watching her slip back into that familiar role, except this time with her own daughter was something to behold.

Big brother was also smitten with his new best friend, and made sure to get in on the snuggles too.

The wonderful providers and staff and St. Francis continue to raise the bar for maternal and fetal care, and I thank them for their continued kindness towards me, allowing me to capture these memories for my clients.

After a birth photo goes globally viral, to the point Lil Wayne even shares it, it kind of makes it harder to start the thought process on writing their blog. What a whirlwind birth and what a rollercoaster experience of the longest viral run any of my work has had. Dara and Eric were champs, as it's no easy task dealing with media requests and internet trolls. I couldn't think of two better people to share and walk out that experience with.

Obviously Dara's expression of finding out it was a boy takes the cake, but the expressions of her husband and his doting support, the care and affection of the midwives, the shared excitement of her best friend being her nurse for the birth, the shock and adoration of the grandparents, and last but certainly not least their precious daughter smitten with her new best friend... well all of that makes for one heck of a birth story.

It's been an honor being by her side for both of her births, and it's an honor to call her my friend!

Completely not intentional that I have two back to back, multi-racial birth/adoption related stories to share. But brace yourselves for big brother by 9 months to steal the show when he smother's his new brother in kisses.

Brianne and Marc had a rough road to conceiving, they had tried for quite some time, but always knew adoption was part of their bigger plan, regardless of conceiving biologically. Baby Zeke came into their lives, and took the world's heart by storm. His big brown eyes, and a smile that lights up a room... not to mention the hugs he gave as he got older.

I'm not sure if Brianne remembers this or not, but shortly after they adopted Zeke, they were at my house shooting his now famous Milk Bath session. Disappointedly, Brianne said she felt crampy, and was frustrated at the thought of her impending upcoming cycle. And I very stupidly (as I never would want to cause emotional pain on the subject) said, "Maybe it's implantation cramps!". Well little did either of us know, but she was in fact pregnant. Sweet baby Spurgeon was crashing his big bro's Milk Bath session!

I've never met two people more on fire for the Lord than these two. I mean they live it, they don't just talk the talk. I can't imagine two greater parents, for these two precious boys. The Lord knew what he was doing when He knit these lives together. Their family, their testimony will live out for years to come... as they show the world what God's love looks like.
